An Important Message from WCSSCA
WCSSCA Membership Drive
Dear Families,
We are writing to you all today to let you know about the work that WCSSCA (the West Coast Steiner School Community Association) does and ask you to consider ways that you can contribute in order to continue this fundamental part of our school community.
WCSSCA is comprised of parents and friends of the school, membership is free and simple, and its aim is to promote and support the development of the school by fundraising to provide equipment and services (such as contributing $20,000 to the 2018 junior playground nature play refurbishment, purchasing the picnic tables used for outdoor learning and extending the Hub deck). We also coordinate events that foster a spirit of community, following the values and principles of Rudolf Steiner.
Our activities include Craft Group; managing the school shop Golden Threads; catering including Soup Day on Wednesdays during the winter terms, Market Day on Tuesdays after school, as well as helping to coordinate our Kambarang School Fair and the annual Christmas Markets.
Many of these activities nourish and nurture our whole school community and exist due to past parents. Our beloved Golden Threads shop, and Community Hub is the result of past WCSSCA members commitment and vision – and so many of us get to enjoy it today!
WCSSCA currently has only a handful of dedicated parents who have given of their hearts, hands and heads for many years. Several of these parents have children who will be graduating at the end of this year, leaving WCSSCA in a place of much needed renewal.
We urge you to consider any ways in which you can help – the more members WCSSCA has the lesser the load. Your commitment is on your terms – maybe you can help with one event per year – whatever you can give may mean the difference between events continuing or not being offered.
Without new membership it seems likely WCSSCA will be unable to continue to provide all of the valued, enriching activities it currently does.
As a Steiner school we speak often of adults being worthy of imitation. Being a member of WCSSCA demonstrates to your child the importance of purpose, meaning and contribution. Volunteering also increases your own personal wellbeing. Added to that joining WCSSCA means fulfilling your family commitment hours is always easy peasy!
We urge you to strongly consider becoming an active member of WCSSCA for Term 4 so that the Association can continue to run. Please complete the attached membership form (hard copies are available at Reception) and send to wcssca@wcss.wa.edu.au or hand in at Reception or Golden Threads.
Yours in community,
WCSSCA
''The healthy social life is found when, in the mirror of each human soul the whole community finds its reflection. And when, in the community, the virtue of each one is living''. – Rudolf Steiner
