Wandju - Welcome to Term 4
Wandju - Welcome to Term 4
Kaya WCSS Community
I hope you have been enjoying some lovely holidays. The Kambarang weather is delighting us with mostly warm sunny days, interspersed with a few wetter wintry conditions. It certainly is a second Spring! We are enjoying this changing season with its signs of birth and renewal all around us and our school gardens are bursting with beauty and colour to welcome you all back on Monday for a joyful and busy Term 4.
Planning is well underway for our Kambarang Fair and Open Day on Saturday October 29. We hope you will all be involved in making this a special day. Please see sign-up sheets or contact your Class Carer to find out how you can help. We really need everyone to be involved and it’s a wonderful opportunity to use some of your Family Commitment Hours. This is a compulsory event for Primary School students who will be performing; a day in lieu is scheduled for Monday October 31. Remember to invite your relatives, friends and neighbours!
Many classes will also hold parent meetings this term and I strongly encourage you to go along and find out as much as you can about your child’s education. Schooling is very much about walking together and we really value your support and input.
This term we have camps or sleepovers for Classes 3-6, which will be very exciting, Class Plays for Classes 1-3 and later a four-week Eurythmy Intensive with Nicole for K6 - Class 6. Staff/Parent Choir is offered again after school on Mondays, Market Day continues each Tuesday afternoon, Yarning Circle is held every Tuesday morning in The Hub with some delicious food, Parent Enrichment Workshops will run if there is enough demand on Tuesdays at 2.15pm and Parent Craft sessions are held with Sarah on Monday afternoons in The Hub. Just a reminder of our Staff and Parent Sundowner on Friday November 4th from 7pm at The Oxford Hotel. There are so many opportunities to get involved with school life and make some new friends in the process.
On Monday November 14 we have a wonderful parent talk, presented by Steiner parenting expert Lou Harvey-Zahra which I encourage you all to attend. There is also a talk for Kindy parents on Thursday 10 November about what to expect for 2023. The Celtic Dance, which we had to postpone in Term 1 due to COVID restrictions, will be held on Friday 25 November and we conclude the term with Class 6 Graduation on Tuesday 13 December and the Christmas Markets on the final day, Wednesday 14 December. What a lot of lovely things there are to celebrate!
I am very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday and remind you that I am always happy to meet with you to discuss ideas or concerns or to answer any questions.
With warmth

In the Light of a Child – Michael Hedley Burton
Angels down to me are bending
Always with me, they are ever caring, tending,
And around me, woven out of love, their flowing mantle they are lending.
I am their child. From out their house of light my soul has wended.
Born of the sun, my seed upon the earth descended.
Good fruit it must bring forth before my life is ended.

Term 4: Restorative Yoga @ WCSS
Dear Staff, Parents & Friends,
I am very pleased to be able to offer a combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga to the community in Term 4.
Yin yoga allows for the release of deeply held tension from the fascia. Restorative yoga is a very gentle practice focused on relaxing the body and the mind. Each pose is supported by bolsters, blocks, blankets, sandbags, and eye pillows to allow the body to surrender into deep relaxation. Gentle music soothes the soul as you are guided through breath and meditation techniques to calm and restore you.
Classes typically start with pranayama (breath techniques to calm, balance and restore), a short dharma talk/story to feed body, mind, and soul and then a sequence of asana (poses) for deep relaxation. The session ends with savasana to integrate the journey and then you are ready to return to your life, centered, relaxed, and restored.
Our classes run from 4pm – 5pm. Out of respect for our fellow yogis, I ask that you arrive at least 5 mins before the class starts to ensure we are all set up and settled to begin the journey together. To ensure you can be on time for your childcare and other commitments I am committed to finishing on time.
This is an adult only class and there is no provision for childcare. Please make your childcare arrangements off school grounds – thank you.
No prior experience or fitness level required. Please wear comfy clothes that you can move in. Classes start the second Tuesday of Term 4 (Tuesday 18th October) and run over the following seven weeks. The cost for the term is $98. All equipment is provided. Eye pillow covers are removed after each use and laundered. Please bring your own towel to lay over the bolster.
For bookings email saraniyoga@outlook.com Vanessa Fountain to ensure a place is available. Returning students and staff are given priority. Payment is for the term.
